Chinese Tech Company Alibaba has launched a new version of its AI model, Qwen 2.5, which the company says outperforms the highly acclaimed DeepSeek-V3.
The release of DeepSeek’s AI assistant, the DeepSeek-V3 model, along with the Jan. 20 release of the R1 model, sent shockwaves through Silicon Valley and sent tech stocks plunging, as the Chinese startup’s low development and usage costs prompted investors to question the massive spending plans of leading U.S. AI companies.
Byte Dance, the owner of TikTok, also released an update to its AI model, which it believes outperforms Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s O1 in AIME.
